“Si todo está bajo control es que no vas lo suficientemente rápido”
Ya estamos a finales de mayo, y mientras que todos mis compañeros de clase piensan en los exámenes, yo no puedo concentrarme en estudiar. ¿Pero cómo lo voy a hacer? Estamos a menos de dos meses de nuestra primera competición, ¡En nada nos vamos a Silverstone! Ese circuito tan maravilloso en tierras inglesas. Cada noche sueño con el olor a neumático quemado, con el ruido de los motores rugiendo al ver nuestro monoplaza cruzar la bandera a cuadros…
Vamos a tranquilizarnos, sí, lo sé, vosotros también tenéis los pelos de punta, tranquilos es normal. Pero antes de ir a competición nos quedan varias cosas por hacer. El coche está listo para rodar, sí, pero eso no es más que el principio. Ahora toca conocerlo mejor que a nosotros mismos, porque de nada sirve tener el mejor bólido de la parrilla si luego el piloto y los mecánicos no son capaces de controlarlo a su antojo.
No lo dudéis, estamos ante uno de los momentos más bonitos de la temporada. Atrás han quedado las largas noches montando el FSB2017, o incluso más los meses en los que diseñando no nos separábamos del ordenador ni para ir al baño. Ahora toca rodar con el coche, solucionar los posibles problemas que puedan aparecer, encontrar el mejor reglaje de la suspensión para cada una de las pruebas que vamos a tener que disputar… y siempre con nuestro objetivo en el horizonte: finalizar todas las pruebas en las que participaremos este verano.
Y no nos olvidemos de lo más importante. Disfrutar del trabajo bien hecho, porque a expensas de los resultados que obtendremos en competición, nosotros ya somos campeones. Ya somos campeones por haber podido formar parte de un grupo tan maravilloso como es Formula Student Bizkaia, que hemos trabajado lo que está escrito y más, que con sudor y lágrimas hemos conseguido sacar adelante el sueño de todos. Y ahora ya sabéis, ¡Sólo queda VOLAR!

It´s may, while all my class mates are thinking in exams, I can’t concentrate on my studies. But how I´m going to do it? In less than two months is our first competition, soon we will be in Silverstone! That amazing circuit in the United Kingdom. Every night I dream of burned tires, the sound of the engines, our car crossing the finish line and how the checkered flag will be waving….
Let’s keep calm, yes, I know, you also have your hair stand on end, but don’t worry, it’s normal. But before we go to the competitions we´ve got many things to do. The car is ready to run, yes, but it´s only the beginning. Now is time to know the car better than we know ourselves, because doesn’t matter if you´ve got the best car of all, if the driver and the mechanics are not able to control it as they wish.
Don’t doubt it, we are on one of the best moments of the season. We have passed through long nights building the FSB2017, and also all those days designing and taking our laptop everywhere, even to the bathroom. Now is time to run, solve any problems that could appear, find the best setup of the suspension system for every competition… and always with our objective in the horizon: finishing every trial this summer.
And don’t forget of the most important thing. Having fun of a good job, because at expenses of the result of this season in competition, we are already the winners. We are the champion because we have been part of this wonderful team, Formula Student Bizkaia. We have worked very hard and now is time to fly.
